Turning Up The Heat
February was pretty damn cold. I was really surprising myself that I was actually going out in -0°C weather to workout in the garage. I absolutely do not like the cold. I was truly grateful I didn’t have to drive anywhere as many mornings it was very icy. I just had to walk to the garage but still, that cold brrrr.
I was definitely feeling the difference during my workouts. I was doing more reps and working out longer. I felt as though my muscles were waking the hell up. I didn’t have a lot of equipment but I made due with what I had. I used everything I had and got creative with it trying all kinds of different things. Keeping it interesting and fresh, being open to trying different exercises helped keep me motivated.
I was still searching for a bench. I was also just looking for any good deals on equipment to expand the gym. I saved every penny I could in hopes of getting a few more things. I wasn’t looking to get a lot of weights just enough to keep myself going. I wasn’t trying to become a body builder. I had no desire to get huge or to become a power lifter. I have no one to impress but myself. I just wanted to get in better shape. I chose that I would rather lift lighter weight, with perfect form and high reps for endurance and to stay flexible. In the past I always did heavy weight with low reps which is what you wanna do to get bigger and stronger. I think doing lighter weight with perfect form and high reps also makes you stronger it just takes a bit longer but in the end, you have that endurance and I was going for that.
Another reason I am not into the whole gym scene is that most times I went, egos were always bigger than muscles in there. You’d have guys lifting massive amounts of weight but with horrible form. They more cared about trying to prove how strong they were, rather than focus on actually getting stronger or healthier. Just because you lift weights doesn’t mean you are healthy. I have met plenty of guys that were huge, but beyond lifting they lead very unhealthy lifestyles. I looked to do inner work as well as outer work so going about it alone for now was just a good thing for me. For some having a good workout partner would be better and like I have said for some the gym scene works. I am happy working out at home.
Though it was freezing cold I was turning up the heat by pushing myself but being careful not to injure myself. I was still learning my limits so I pressed on but using caution. I always stretch and always do some type of warm up before getting busy. Thank you for reading.
